He has two wives, 10 kids, and a whole lot of bees. There are dozens of buckets in the trees all around his house. All of the buckets are full of bees. He says that he is friends with the bees and no longer worries about getting stung. Apparently he climbs the trees, grabs out the hive, and then just squeezes the honey out.
He talked for a long time about how his honey was so much better than anything available in stores. He even gave us all a free sample. It was very good.
He charges 100,000 rupiah for a half liter bottle (that's about $11 for 16 oz).
He also tried to give us free samples of another thing that he sells. It's called arak, and it is a drink with a very high alcohol content. We politely refused, but he insisted that we try it saying that it wasn't very strong. He opened the bottle and said we should at least smell it. Earlier he had told us that a concoction of half honey and half arak would cure just about anything: aches, back pain, cold, cough, head aches, fever, etc. Judging by the smell, I wouldn't doubt it...
