Another Interesting Indonesian Airplane Experience

I was set to leave Bali on a short flight to a small, relatively poor and mostly rural island.  My flight was scheduled for August 12th with Lion Air.  About 5 days before my flight, another Lion Air flight heading to another relatively poor and rural area experienced some issues upon landing.  Three cows were on the runway... but everything ended well (for the humans at least, one of the cows didn't make it).

When it came time for my flight, I was a little nervous during our approach for landing, especially since the island we were going to is well known for it's livestock.  But we landed safely without any problems, and I had some fun conversations with the airport staff about their experiences with cows, horses, and dogs on the runway.

You can read the short article about the recent cow incident here.

If you want to get an idea of what landing at one of these smaller airports is like, you can check out this youtube video.  How many people and animals do you count beside the runway??
