Going Ape

If you ever visit Bali, you will be sure to encounter guys trying to sell you things as you sit in your car during red lights and heavy traffic.  They sell all kinds of things: newspapers, snacks, toys, car decorations, flags, etc.  Many times, especially if they are selling a toy, there will also be an ongoing demonstration of how their product works.

Enter the gorilla mask salesman...  We were in traffic several weeks ago, and Kenan starts talking about seeing monkeys.  Monkeys tend to stay in the wooded areas outside of Denpasar, so we were curious to see what he was talking about.  There were two guys right beside our car, and both of them were wearing and trying to sell gorilla masks.

It was a little weird getting used to, but now it has become quite normal to see guys walking around in traffic wearing monkey masks.

Just in case you were wondering how much they cost: tourist price is about 75,000 rupiah ($8.00) and local price is 30,000 rupiah ($3.25).
