Over a span of two days recently, we ate some really interesting foods. On one occasion at a ceremony for a friend's kid, and the other time out in a village on the west side of Bali.
Best tasting food during that time: pork sausage
Worst looking food during that time: pork sausage
The pork sausage tastes so good, but it is full of unidentifiable ingredients stuffed inside pig intestines and then fried until crispy. It is one of those things you just enjoy and try not to think about what is actually going into your stomach... After those two days, we had some major stomach issues.
A while back during some similar stomach problems, we followed some advice (from Anna in Madison, NC) to buy some activated charcoal. Before I purchased this stuff, I was unaware that swallowing charcoal could actually be a positive thing. I don't know too much about the science of it (apparently six of the little charcoal tablets have the surface area of half a tennis court), but those little things work wonders! They suck out all the bad stuff from your intestines/stomach and magically dispose of it. We take them all the time now. Jaiden does too.
So if we are offered dog meat, fish head soup, or crispy intestines, no worries, because we know that 10 charcoal tablets 3x a day should take care of any ill effects...
