This is the owner of our house making the penjor. While most offerings for temple and home use are prepared by women, it is generally men who are responsible for making and decorating the penjor every Galungan. Technically, he only rents the house he lives in now and owns our house, so he is required to put the penjor in front of the house he currently owns.

Galungan is comparable to Christmas in a lot of ways. One of those ways is how the family gets together to decorate a penjor, it reminded us a lot of decorating a Christmas tree. Lots of traditional snacks and food is prepared and enjoyed also. You also eat all the time (that's like Christmas at my house at least).
