No School. Again...

Jaiden doesn't have school tomorrow. We are starting to realize that this will be a regular occurrence. Indonesia does not separate between religion and state like they do in the States, so we get to have days off for Buddhist, Chinese, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, and Catholic holidays. It ends up being a lot of days off. The interesting thing about days off of school in Indonesia is that we have to go home and ask friends and neighbors exactly what the day off is for. Many times people don't know.

However, it turns into a good opportunity to learn more about the culture. Take tomorrow for example: the day is called Maulud Nabi. It is the celebration of Muhammed's birthday. The words (like many other words in the Indonesian language) are derived from the Arabic. Maulud = birthday, Nabi = prophet.

Jaiden doesn't care too much about the reasons that she is getting out of school... She's just happy to have a fun day at home.
