Kristi is learning to drive!!

Just a quick note to say that Kristi is on the road here in Denpasar. She is learning to drive a stick shift, while learning to maneuver the crazy streets. I don't envy her. I learned to drive a stick on a deserted road somewhere in Guilford County, NC. She gets to learn on roads that are full of cars, motorbikes, bicycles, and pedestrians. Here are some of the hazards she will have to watch out for: small children that play on the curb or in the road, motorbikes that pull out into the road without first checking/looking to see if anything is coming (this is really scary), cars and motorbikes that drive on the wrong side of the road, rabid dogs (literally), sink holes, fast and slow motorbike riders (the slow ones are more dangerous), and kids on bicycles that seem to be in their own little world and could do anything at anytime...

For example: The other day, she started going, was shifting real good, was about in fourth gear, and then we see a big SUV coming straight for us! It was in our lane, and she had to do something quick. But before taking any evasive maneuvers, you have to make sure there are no motorbikes right beside you... She did good and avoided a head on collision.

Sure beats boring drivers ed!

On the Edge

A few things about Kaelen... she is smiling and goofy and silly all the time, EXCEPT for when anyone is taking a picture.  Then she...
