Kenan's Day Out

These are pictures from Kenan's first big appearance out of the house. We went to our friends house down the street for an important ceremony. Little Made (to the right) was six months old and was going to be allowed to touch the ground after this ceremony. It was interesting, during the whole process he "sold" snacks while everyone threw money at him and then later he was placed under a chicken cage.

Kenan spent most of his time being passed around among the ladies. Even though it was over 90 degrees outside, they all made sure that he was bundled up in his blanket.

These ceremonies are a big financial burden to the family. They are required at every few months during the first year of life, and they can easily cost more than one month's salary for all the offerings and food.
