These are some pictures from a special ceremony which is held 42 days after the birth of our friend's son. Before that time, Made (Mah-day) was not taken outside of his family's property. Doing this protects him from anyone with a jealous heart or evil eye. Also before this ceremony, he usually had a red onion peel on his forehead to protect him from evil spirits. The Balinese say that babies are especially vulnerable to evil spirits and need special protection.
Looking forward to the birth of our little guy, we hope to do something significant which will share about the One who is protecting us from evil.
