We don't have recycling bins at our house. All of that happens after it gets on to the trash truck. We pay these guys about $1.80 per month to take our trash away. They come every 3-5 days, and then they go through all our trash setting aside any plastic, glass, or cardboard that could be sold to a company here in town that buys recyclable materials.In my experience, people don't treat garbage collectors with a lot of courtesy or respect. It's not a high paying job...
That may be why most garbage collectors don't like to talk or even exchange greetings with me when they're working. I've never been brave enough to ask them why they're so quiet on the job because I wouldn't want to embarrass them. However, when they come by once a month to collect their $1.80, they are much more willing to chat.
