Day of Silence

   We are currently 17 hours into the 24 hour period of silence in Bali.  Here it's known as Nyepi and there is no lights, no cars on the roads, no people outside of their houses, no planes, no loud noises, no flames, etc.  It's quiet... even the dogs and chickens seem to pick up on the quiet theme.

   We went out to the front of our house and looked up at the stars earlier.  As we got right to the limit of the road (which is still technically allowed), several neighbors, who are sleeping on their roof tonight flashed their flashlights at us in a silent Nyepi greeting.

   It's a great day.  True quiet and rest.
