I spend a lot of time in this one village up in the mountains of Bali. Although it's not extremely far from a small town with 'conveniences', it is still considered relatively remote, i.e. roads are really bad into the village, there are no motorbike repair shops, nowhere to buy cell phone minutes, no markets (or mini-markets), and also, no barber shops. This helps to explain what's going on in this picture. I was sitting on Pak Made's front porch, and one of their neighbors from down the hill strolled in and asked for a haircut. Pak Made (the one standing) always cuts his own boys' hair, and people have started to come to him for their own haircuts.
There's no set charge for the cut and no posted business hours, but chances are you won't pay too much and won't have to wait too long.
