27 hours at sea...

The guy in this picture, the one climbing the ladder, was recently rescued after treading water for 27 hours in Indonesian waters.

He was on a boat trip to a famous (and remote) surf break (map).  The seas were very rough... he got seasick, passed out, and fell overboard in the middle of the night.

He was circled by sharks, attacked by seagulls, and stung by jellyfish, but he stayed afloat.

His wife was notified that he was lost at sea and most likely dead.  However, a group of nine surfers were determined to head out one last time to search for him.  They found him and pulled him in.  The man was South African and was found by Australians and Indonesians, so it was a pretty big story in all those countries.

The best part about the story... he didn't go home to rest.  He went back to the surf break and finished his surfing trip with his mates.

On the Edge
