The weather here in Bali has been very strange lately. Usually we have rain during the rainy season, and no rain and steady breezes during dry season. That's the extent of the variations here. However over the past week we have had tons of rain, severe thunderstorms, high winds, big waves, and even rumors of hail. No TV stations here do a detailed weather report, so most of the people of Bali just guess at the reasons for such weather.
Many of our neighbors have said that this is the beginning of the end of the world (remember the 2012 prophecy?? That story got a lot of play here in Indonesia). Some say the sun is splitting apart, others say the storms are a result of some disturbance in the spirit world...
The scientific answer to all of this strange weather is that there is a cyclone to the south of Bali, and we are just catching the tail-end of it.
