This guy has become an instant celebrity here in Indonesia. He's an officer with the national police special operations unit. He was sitting bored at his post one day, in a relatively small town in a relatively out of the way province, and he decided to set up his cell phone and record himself doing a rendition of a very famous Bollywood song, Chaiyya Chaiyya (If you don't know what Bollywood is, I suggest Lagaan and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham as starters). He not only does the lipsyncing really well, but he also does all the dance moves just like the movie.
He uploaded the thing to youtube and the video has been seen by over 1 million people. I think that gives it official viral status, but it is even more impressive when you keep in mind that the number of internet users in America is about 10 times higher than the number of internet users in Indonesia.
The police officer, Norman, has gone onto be invited by the governor of his province to sing for him. He also got called to the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta, and although many thought he would get in trouble, they gave him permission to go on national TV to perform. He's been the subject of numerous news stories, is followed by news cameras everywhere, etc.
I hope he enjoys his 15 minutes of fame...
