Indonesia's most active volcano, Mount Merapi, started to erupt again during the past couple of days. 25 people have already died and 14 more have been injured.
One of the notable fatalities was an elderly man named Maridjan. He was considered to be the gatekeeper of Merapi and refused to leave his home. He regularly offered sacrifices to the volcano and was appointed to mediate with the spirits of the mountain.
