
A couple of days ago, we received warnings from the embassy in Indonesia about staying away from protests. With Idul Fitri (as Eid is known in Indonesia) happening right now at the same time as plans of Koran burning in America, I am sure that things are pretty tense over there right now.
We are sitting in the comfort and safety of North Carolina, but our thoughts are with our friends in Bali.
Things always get pretty tense in Bali towards the end of Ramadan. Certain elements of the Islamic faith can tend to act a little more radical during the month of Ramadan, and there is always heightened security on the island.
Remember Indonesia. It tends to be a tolerant, moderate country. However, this balance could be tipped and that would affect millions of people, including the four of us.
