Before the body is cremated, there is a "washing" ceremony. This is a ritual cleaning of the body to prepare it for cremation. It's quite complex with lots of little details that no one really understands (except for the priests).

It is also very difficult for the family because they are the ones doing the "washing" and the person could have been dead for up to several days. Their appearance can be quite overwhelming for the family, and often family members are carried out after they have "fainted".
