Kristi and I were at a store last night, and a man standing close to us suddenly dropped the thing he was holding and started to run out the door... It was a bit weird. But he stopped short at the door and lamented, "Kalau bis lewat saya pikir ada gempa". He said that if a loud bus passes by he always thinks an earthquake is happening. He stopped at the door because he saw the bus passing by that was making the loud noise and vibrations and realized it wasn't an earthquake.
People here are still very worried about earthquakes, and standard procedure is NOT to get under a doorway or find a triangle of life. Everybody just runs as fast as they can out of whatever structure they happen to be in at the time.
