Good Times in Pedawa

We built five water tanks in Pedawa and built some good relationships there. We had a fish/chicken fry on the last night of work there. A lot of people came out, and we passed out water filters to the families that would be using the water tanks. This photo is me with some of the filter recipients (what you can't see in the picture is that I am bending my legs as much as possible to make me not look like a giant compared to the lady beside me).

Interesting thing about our dinner that night: it was alive when it arrived at the house. There's just something weird about seeing your dinner killed, butchered, and cooked right before your eyes. For me, it doesn't really do to much to enhance the flavor of the meal.

I also met a man who said he was 85 years old. It is very rare to meet anyone that old here, and we were all amazed to hear him tell stories about the Dutch occupation, the Japanese invading Bali during World War II, and the big volcano erupting. Even more amazing is when he told us that he had family members that had lived to be 150 years old! At this point I started to wonder if he was counting years using the Balinese calendar which only has 210 days, but then I thought it would be better just to not worry about it, sit back, and enjoy the stories.
