Two fruits that are currently in season are tops on Jaiden's lunch menu.
The first is called Jambu Air (jahm-boo ire). It's red and sour, and I can't think of anything it is comparable to in the States. The only problem is that this fruit is also a favorite of bats. So if you're lucky enough to have a tree near your house (like we do), then you also get the mandatory bats flying around. Ever since a bat flew into my motorbike helmet, I've been a bit skittish around bats, so this is a bad deal for me.
The second is a huge citrus fruit called Jeruk Bali. Which basically means "Bali citrus". It looks and tastes a bit like a grapefruit, but it is typically bigger. The skin is also really thick and tough. After getting through the outer skin, each individual section must also be peeled as well. The skin around each section is about as tough to peel as the outer skin. It's quite a process, but the results are worth it. (In the picture below, the outer skin and section skin have already been peeled away from half of the jeruk bali...)
