Did you know that the world's 3rd largest sporting event has been going on for the past three weeks? It's called Euro 2008, and it is a soccer (sepak bola) tournament between the European nations. For most of the world, this is a really big deal.
The games are broadcast live here in Indonesia at 2:45am. In a country that is crazy for European soccer, a high percentage of grown men stay up and watch the games. So naturally, I have been watching as many as possible also in order to be able to talk about the game the next day. It's usually the first thing a neighbor might mention the following morning...
The final game just ended and Spain beat Germany 1-0 for the cup (Andy's happy). We watched the game with 7 Indo friends and most of them were supporting Spain. It was a good time. They were from several different people groups, and it was interesting to see how differently people groups within Indo act and talk while watching sports.
