We have lately discovered something...
We have a pretty good handle on the basics of Indonesian. Although casual conversation and small talk is something we enjoy and have opportunities for, we realized that we were only getting small doses of language throughout our day. 2 hours in class, a half conversation with the guys, 5 minutes with a neighbor, an hour with a language helper, etc.
We wanted to get long stretches of just Indonesian, so we asked our friends if they would be willing to go on some day trips with us over the next several weeks. We plan on going to out of the way places and villages around the island.
The next several pictures are from our first trip with our friends. It was great, 10 hours of just Indonesian...
p.s. it seems that Jaiden benefited the most from our first trip. She has been babbling in a bit of Indonesian since then.
